Wednesday Night’s Cocktails

First, keep in mind that when having my evening cocktail I don’t usually feel like pulling out my DSLR to take photos. Please appreciate that when you see the crappy iPhone photos :).

Last night was a multi-cocktail evening.  I started with a variation of the Sazerac following closely the classic recipe, but instead of a sugar cube I used a house made simple syrup. I’m loving the absinthe rinsed glass. I am also always pleasantly surprised at how much flavor the rinse adds.  It’s quickly becoming my go to cocktail at the 182 Speakeasy.

After I enjoyed this libation I decided to press on through another episode of The Killing (AMC, Netflix) and have another. The second was my personal bastardization of the cocktail by which I measure most bartenders on their classic cocktail skills, a Manhattan. My Manhattan is crafted like this.

Scott's Manhattan

Scott’s Manhattan

  • 2 0z Barterhouse Bourbon
  • .5 oz Sweet Vermouth, I use Carpano.
  • .5 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 Dash Orange Bitters

You can’t go wrong with either cocktail. Good stuff on a night that it was very much needed!

Also, I am aware of the picture rotation issue on mobile devices. I’m working on it!

-Cheers
